Pre-season actions: Met Department

The Manager of Meteorology or designate ensures staffing, supplies, and communication readiness before season start.

Consumables and equipment

  • Ensure adequate stock of paper (8.5x11 and 8.5x14).
  • Ensure printer, photocopier, and fax cartridges are available.
  • Ensure flashlights, batteries, and first-aid supplies are available.

Coordination and contact readiness

  • Inform the Meteorological Office at Piarco (Trinidad) of work and home contact numbers for:
    • Manager of Meteorology
    • Assistant Manager of Meteorology
  • Prepare and maintain phone/fax list for disaster preparedness officials and National Disaster Management Agency / National Emergency Advisory Council contacts.

Staff preparation

  • Conduct staff discussions on procedures during the hurricane season.
